Punjab Govt Issues Show‑Cause Notices to Striking Staff, AIKS Leader Subhash Lamba

Punjab authorities have issued formal show‑cause notices to government employees who joined a strike, demanding they explain their participation. The notices, dated recently, warn of disciplinary action if the staff do not provide satisfactory reasons.

Subhash Lamba, national president of the All India State Government Employees Federation (AIKS), condemned the move as punitive and counter‑productive. He argued that the government’s step undermines the right of employees to protest over unresolved grievances.

Lamba warned that if the notices are not withdrawn, the federation will call for a renewed strike on September 8, escalating the industrial dispute. He urged the state to engage in dialogue rather than resort to coercive measures.
