The Punjab government has approached the Supreme Court, contesting a Punjab and Haryana High Court order linked to an Enforcement Directorate letter addressed to the state DGP, and says the order is politically driven.

The state administration of Punjab filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking to overturn a decision of the Punjab and Haryana High Court. The High Court order arose from a communication sent by the Enforcement Directorate to the state's Director General of Police.

According to the petition, the High Court directive was issued after the ED letter raised concerns about certain investigations, prompting the court to intervene in the matter. The Punjab government argues that the judicial intervention is unwarranted and stems from political considerations.

The petition also notes that the government's request for an urgent hearing on the issue was rejected by the Supreme Court, underscoring the procedural hurdles it now faces. The case remains pending before the apex court, which will decide whether the High Court's order stands.
