The Punjab chapter of the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha announced a rail‑block protest today, mobilising demonstrators on railway tracks in six districts. A confrontation with police erupted in Moga during the demonstration.

The Punjab chapter of the Kisan Mazdoor Morcha announced a rail‑block (rail roko) protest today, calling on its members to occupy railway tracks in six districts of the state.

Activists began laying down on the tracks in the districts of Amritsar, Ludhiana, Jalandhar, Patiala, Bathinda and Moga, demanding immediate attention to agrarian distress and urging the government to address pending farm issues.

In Moga, police attempted to disperse the demonstrators, leading to a physical clash in which several protesters and officers sustained minor injuries.

Authorities have temporarily halted train services on the affected routes and have warned of legal action against participants who obstruct railway operations.

The protest comes amid ongoing farmer agitation across the country, and officials said they are monitoring the situation closely to prevent further disruptions.
