Meteorological authorities have issued a yellow alert for Punjab, warning of heavy rainfall over the next 48 hours that is expected to benefit Kharif crops.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has declared a yellow alert for the entire state of Punjab, signalling that heavy rainfall is likely over the next two days. According to the bulletin, precipitation levels could reach 50–70 mm in some districts, with the highest amounts expected in the western and central parts of the state. The forecasted showers are expected to bring much-needed moisture to the Kharif crop season, potentially improving yields and reducing water stress. Farmers are advised to secure irrigation infrastructure and monitor weather updates closely to avoid crop damage from possible flooding.
