Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has called on the Union government to promptly procure the state's rice and wheat inventories.
Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has formally asked the central government to urgently lift the state's accumulated stocks of rice and wheat. The appeal was made to ensure that the grain reserves are moved out of storage without delay.
Punjab, one of India's leading grain‑producing states, holds substantial quantities of these staple cereals. By urging an immediate lift, the CM aims to facilitate timely distribution and prevent any potential bottlenecks in the supply chain.
The Union government has not yet issued a response to the request, and officials are expected to assess the logistical and financial implications of the proposed lift.
