Pune police have detained Harsha Kadam, CEO of Schaeffler India, as part of an investigation into a factory accident that occurred earlier this month.

Pune police arrested Harsha Kadam, the chief executive officer of Schaeffler India, on Thursday during a probe into a serious accident that took place at the company’s manufacturing unit in the city.

The incident, which happened on 12 September, resulted in injuries to several workers and raised concerns about safety protocols at the plant. Authorities are examining whether lapses in safety measures contributed to the mishap.

According to a police statement, Kadam was taken into custody after a thorough search of the factory premises. The company’s senior management has expressed cooperation with the investigation.

Schaeffler India has not yet released a formal statement, but the company’s spokesperson said the firm is committed to ensuring a safe working environment and will comply with all regulatory requirements.
