For the 2026 Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations in Pune, police have permitted DJs to operate provided they stay within prescribed sound limits, while banning the use of laser devices at public events.

The Maharashtra police in Pune issued a directive ahead of this year's Ganesh Chaturthi, allowing disc jockeys to perform at public pandals as long as the volume does not exceed the legally stipulated decibel level. The move aims to balance festive enthusiasm with residential peace, especially in densely populated neighborhoods.

Officials clarified that sound levels will be monitored in real time, and any breach could result in immediate fines or revocation of performance permits. Event organizers have been instructed to install sound meters and cooperate with local enforcement teams.

In addition to the sound regulation, the police have imposed a blanket ban on laser lights and projectors at Ganesh Chaturthi venues. The ban is intended to prevent potential eye injuries and avoid distractions that could compromise crowd safety during the large gatherings.

Authorities urged devotees and organizers to adhere strictly to these guidelines to ensure a smooth, safe, and harmonious celebration of the beloved festival across the city.
