Maharashtra authorities have ordered the shutdown of 13 paying guest accommodations, seven scrap shops and godowns in Pune after safety violations were detected during inspections. The action aims to ensure public safety in the city.

Inspections carried out by municipal officials revealed multiple safety violations in the premises of the paying guest accommodations, scrap shops and godowns. The violations included issues related to fire safety, structural stability and hygiene norms.

Based on the inspection reports, the authorities issued immediate shutdown orders for 13 PGs, seven scrap shops and godowns located across various parts of Pune. The establishments have been directed to cease operations until they comply with safety standards.

Officials said the measures are intended to prevent any untoward incidents and protect residents and workers. They added that further compliance checks will be conducted before any permission to reopen is considered.
