Religious leaders and Hindu groups in Ujjain have rallied against the proposed removal of a standing Hanuman statue, demanding that the deity not be displaced.

Religious figures gathered in Ujjain to oppose a government move to relocate a standing Hanuman statue that has become a local landmark. The protest was led by saints and Hindu nationalist groups who argued that the deity should not be moved.

The protesting leaders quoted a slogan, "When the god himself does not want to move, why should we?" to underline their stance. They called for the statue to remain in its current location, emphasizing its cultural and spiritual significance.

Ujjain's deputy commissioner responded that any decision will be based on a scanning report that is currently being prepared. He said the authorities will act only after the report’s findings are reviewed, indicating that the matter is under official scrutiny.

The issue centers on the proposed "vistasthapikaran" (relocation) of the standing Hanuman idol, a move that has sparked tension between the administration and sections of the community that view the statue as a sacred symbol.
