On Friday, residents of Deai town in Bundi district blocked the market and staged a procession to demand resolution of a long‑standing land dispute, prompting authorities to use a bulldozer at the site.
Deai, a small town in Rajasthan's Bundi district, became the focus of civil unrest on Friday when a plot of land that has been contested for several years sparked a large‑scale demonstration. The disputed parcel, located near the town's central market, has been the subject of competing claims by local residents and municipal authorities for an extended period.
Members of the community group Sarv Samaj organized a market shutdown and led a procession that surrounded the municipal office. Protesters set up a dharna at the contested site, demanding a clear resolution and alleging that the authorities had ignored their grievances.
In response, the district administration deployed a bulldozer to the location, aiming to clear the area and restore order. Officials said the machinery was used to remove encroachments and to prevent further obstruction of public space.
No injuries were reported, and police presence remained limited as the protest gradually dispersed after the bulldozer operation. The incident highlights ongoing tensions over land ownership in rural Rajasthan and the challenges faced by local governments in addressing protracted disputes.
