Madhya Pradesh’s Guna district authorities have suspended Raghogarh project officer Santosh Alawa after a large extortion scheme masquerading as a job appointment.

Guna district officials in Madhya Pradesh have taken disciplinary action against Santosh Alawa, the project officer of the Raghogarh development office, by suspending him pending further inquiry. The suspension follows allegations that Alawa was involved in a systematic extortion racket that used the promise of government appointments to extract money from applicants.

According to the district administration, the scheme targeted individuals seeking jobs in various government projects, demanding large sums under the pretext of securing a posting. Preliminary investigations uncovered substantial cash flow linked to the alleged perpetrators, prompting the authorities to act swiftly.

The suspension order, issued on Monday, cites violation of service rules and abuse of official position. Alawa has been barred from all duties and will remain under suspension until the inquiry concludes. The administration has also directed a forensic audit of the office’s financial records to trace the extent of the illicit proceeds.

State officials have assured the public that a thorough probe will be conducted and that any further wrongdoing will attract strict legal action. The case underscores growing concerns over corruption and fraudulent appointment practices in the region.
