The Tripura state administration has imposed prohibitory orders in West Tripura district as village committee polls approach.

The Tripura government has announced prohibitory orders covering the West Tripura district in anticipation of the upcoming village committee elections. The orders, issued by the state’s law and order department, restrict public gatherings, processions and the use of loudspeakers for a specified period before the polls.

Authorities say the measures aim to prevent any disturbance that could affect the peaceful conduct of the elections, which are scheduled to be held in the coming days across several villages. Election officials have been instructed to coordinate with police to ensure compliance with the restrictions.

Violations of the prohibitory orders will attract penalties under the relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Tripura Police Act. Local officials have urged residents to cooperate fully to guarantee a smooth and orderly voting process.
