Union Minister Priyank Kharge publicly raised concerns about the RSS's role in obtaining police permission for a planned march in Karnataka.

Union Minister Priyank Kharge, a senior leader of the Congress party, addressed the media on Thursday, asking the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) to explain its involvement in securing police clearance for an upcoming rally in Karnataka. Kharge said that the process of obtaining permission should be transparent and free from any partisan influence, and he sought clarification on whether the RSS had intervened with the state police.

The march, scheduled for later this month, is expected to draw large crowds and has been listed as a public assembly requiring official sanction. Kharge's remarks come amid growing scrutiny of how civil society groups and political organisations coordinate with law‑enforcement agencies for mass events.

While the RSS has not yet responded publicly, Karnataka police officials confirmed that a formal request for permission had been submitted and was under review. The ministry has indicated that it will monitor the situation closely to ensure that procedural norms are upheld.
