Actress Preity Zinta told Mid‑Day that she and other overseas Indians look for a distinct Indian flavor when choosing films.

Preity Zinta, a veteran Bollywood actress, spoke to Mid‑Day about the viewing preferences of non‑resident Indians (NRIs) when it comes to cinema.
She explained that despite living abroad, many NRIs continue to seek movies that reflect Indian culture, values and storytelling traditions, describing this as a desire for “Indian‑ness” that connects them to their roots.
Zinta added that this inclination influences her own film choices and encourages filmmakers to retain authentic Indian elements, even as the industry embraces global trends.
Her comments arrive amid ongoing debates about balancing international appeal with domestic cultural representation in Bollywood.
