A pregnant woman from Darha in Bakhri block, Begusarai, was discharged from the primary health centre without adequate checks and later gave birth to a still‑born baby, prompting an investigation into local health services.

A pregnant resident of Darha, located in the Bakhri sub‑district of Begusarai, was taken to the local primary health centre (PHC) after experiencing labour pains. According to relatives, the woman – identified as Sanjana – arrived at the PHC seeking emergency obstetric care.

Family members allege that the medical staff did not conduct a thorough examination and, after a brief assessment, instructed her to return home. The discharge was reportedly made without any monitoring of fetal or maternal health indicators.

Subsequently, Sanjana gave birth at home, and the newborn was found dead. The tragic outcome has triggered a formal inquiry by district health officials, who have ordered a review of the PHC’s protocols and staff actions.

The incident has raised broader concerns about the adequacy of maternal‑health services in rural Bihar, with local NGOs calling for stricter supervision and better emergency response mechanisms at primary health facilities.
