Electricity has been reinstated on the Bicholim town walkway, ending a several‑day blackout that affected commuters and local businesses.

The municipal authorities in Bicholim, Goa, announced that the street lighting along the town's main walkway has been fully restored after a multi‑day power failure. The outage, which began earlier this week, left the promenade dark, prompting concerns from residents and shop owners about safety and reduced foot traffic.

Engineers from the Goa Electricity Department identified a fault in the feeder line supplying the walkway and carried out repairs throughout the night. By early morning, the illumination was back to normal, allowing pedestrians to move safely after dark.

Local shopkeepers welcomed the development, noting that the restored lighting is expected to boost evening commerce and improve security. The municipal council thanked the electricity department for the swift response and assured that regular maintenance will be intensified to prevent similar disruptions.

Authorities have not disclosed the exact cause of the initial fault, but they confirmed that no injuries were reported during the blackout period.
