Ahead of Raksha Bandhan, India’s postal service in Bihar introduced a special ‘Rakhi Mail’ offering 48‑hour delivery and a 10% discount on speed post, with extra counters at the main post office.
The Postal Department in Bihar has rolled out a dedicated “Rakhi Mail” service to ensure that rakhi gifts reach recipients within 48 hours of dispatch, a move aimed at supporting the upcoming Raksha Bandhan celebrations. The initiative, announced in early August, targets the surge in festive parcel traffic and promises timely delivery across the state.
Customers opting for the service can use the Speed Post channel and will receive a 10 percent discount on the usual postage rates. The discount applies to all rakhi parcels sent through the special arrangement, and the reduced cost is reflected at the point of booking.
To handle the expected increase in volume, the main post office in Muzaffarpur has opened additional service counters dedicated to Rakhi Mail. Postal officials indicated that the extra counters will reduce waiting times and streamline processing, helping families send their rakhi gifts quickly and affordably.
