Firecrackers Cause Rising Air Pollution: A Serious Threat to Public Health

New Delhi: The use of firecrackers during festivals and celebrations has become a major environmental concern, especially in Delhi and other metropolitan cities. Every year, fireworks release harmful gases, smoke and tiny particles into the atmosphere, causing a significant increase in air pollution.

Firecrackers produce toxic pollutants such as sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and particulate matter (PM2.5 and PM10). These pollutants reduce air quality and can cause breathing difficulties, coughing, eye irritation and other health problems.

Children, elderly people and those suffering from respiratory diseases are particularly vulnerable. The smoke also affects animals, birds and the overall environment. In addition, loud firecracker explosions create noise pollution and disturb people and wildlife.

Environmental experts encourage citizens to celebrate festivals responsibly by avoiding harmful fireworks and choosing eco-friendly alternatives. Government authorities should also spread awareness and enforce pollution-control regulations.

Conclusion: Festivals are meant to spread happiness, not pollution. We must take responsibility for protecting our environment. Say no to harmful firecrackers and yes to clean air.

Message: Celebrate with lights, not smoke. Protect the environment, protect our future.
