After five days of dry fasting, teacher Narendra Singh Rajput was removed from the Neelam Park sit‑in and taken to a hospital by police as the teachers’ demand for promotions escalated.
Bhopal's Neelam Park has been the focal point of a sit‑in by selected teachers from recruitment classes‑2 and‑3, who are demanding promotion and pay‑scale upgrades. The demonstration, which began earlier this week, grew more confrontational on Tuesday as participants intensified their demands.
Among the protestors, Narendra Singh Rajput, a teacher who had been on a dry fast for five consecutive days, was forcibly removed by police personnel from the encampment and escorted to a nearby hospital for medical evaluation.
Police officials said the intervention was necessary because the teacher's health appeared to be deteriorating, and they acted to prevent any serious medical emergency.
Authorities also issued a warning that any further escalation of the protest could lead to stricter action, urging the demonstrators to disperse peacefully.
