Rajasthan police confiscated 836 sarees and 440 gamchas from a bolero vehicle during a checkpoint before the upcoming panchayat elections in Dhaulpur.
Sadar Police Station in Dhaulpur, Rajasthan, conducted a routine checkpoint ahead of the scheduled panchayat elections. During the operation, officers stopped a bolero vehicle and discovered a large cache of clothing items that appeared intended to influence voters.
The seizure included 836 sarees and 440 gamchas, which were immediately confiscated. Police officials took possession of the vehicle as part of the ongoing effort to curb the distribution of material incentives during the electoral process.
Authorities have not disclosed the identity of the owner or any further investigation details, but the incident underscores heightened vigilance by law‑enforcement agencies as the local elections approach.
The confiscated garments will be retained as evidence, and the police have warned that any attempts to sway voters with gifts will be met with strict legal action.
