Authorities have lodged an FIR against a landlord accused of mortgaging a Sahariya tribal family to force labor, after the family was freed by the administration.
Police in Madhya Pradesh have registered a First Information Report against a landlord alleged to have mortgaged a Sahariya tribal family, compelling them to work for low wages. The complaint stems from accusations that the landlord used a sum of Rs 40,000 as a collateral to bind the family to labor contracts.
The family had earlier been rescued by local authorities, who intervened after learning of the alleged exploitation. Following the rescue, the state labour department filed a formal complaint, prompting the police to open a case against the property owner.
Investigators are now seeking the accused landlord and have launched a search operation. The police have stated that they will continue to probe the matter to determine the extent of the alleged coercion and to ensure the family's safety.
