Over 140 opposition MPs marched from Parliament to the streets in Delhi over alleged vote theft and recent Election Commission disclosures. Police intervened, detaining several leaders including Rahul and Priyanka Gandhi.

On Tuesday, more than 140 members of the India Block staged a walkout from the Lok Sabha, moving onto the streets of New Delhi to protest what they described as vote theft and recent revelations concerning the Chief Election Commissioner. The demonstrators aimed to pressure the Election Commission and the Chief Election Commissioner over alleged irregularities in the electoral process.

Police units deployed along the route intervened as the march approached key intersections near the Parliament House. Officers used crowd‑control measures and subsequently arrested several parliamentarians, among them senior leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, who were taken into custody for alleged breach of parliamentary protocol.

The opposition parties have condemned the police action as an attempt to stifle democratic dissent, while the Delhi police stated that the arrests were made to maintain law and order and to prevent obstruction of traffic. The detained MPs were later escorted to a police station for processing, and their legal teams have indicated they will challenge the arrests in court.

The incident underscores rising tensions between the ruling administration and opposition lawmakers ahead of upcoming electoral contests, with both sides vowing to continue their respective campaigns.
