Police in Ajmer arrested a 63-year-old man from West Bengal for allegedly defrauding Rs 5.60 lakh from minority post-matric scholarships by selling bank accounts.

Ajmer police have arrested Mohammad Allaudin, a 63-year-old resident of West Bengal, in connection with an alleged fraud of approximately Rs 5.60 lakh involving the post-matric scholarship scheme for minority students.

According to police sources, the accused was involved in the illegal sale of bank accounts. He allegedly collected a commission from individuals for providing these accounts, which were then used to divert scholarship funds intended for students.

The investigation has revealed that the case is linked to 27 bank accounts currently under the radar of the police. Authorities are examining the financial trails associated with these accounts to determine the full extent of the financial misappropriation.

The arrest marks a significant step in the ongoing probe into the misuse of funds allocated for educational support. Police are continuing their investigation to identify other potential accomplices involved in the network.
