A confrontation erupted in Ujjain when demonstrators hurled stones at police, prompting officers to fire tear-gas to disperse the crowd.

Earlier today, a violent confrontation broke out in the central Madhya Pradesh city of Ujjain. Residents gathered near a municipal office and began hurling stones at police personnel who were attempting to control the crowd. The stone-pelting escalated quickly, leading officers to resort to tear-gas shells in an effort to disperse the demonstrators.
Police reported that the crowd was shouting slogans and demanding action on local grievances, while the police maintained that they were following standard crowd-control protocols. Several individuals sustained minor injuries from the tear-gas exposure and from the stone-throwing, and a few were taken into custody for disorderly conduct.
Local authorities have not released detailed statements yet, but the incident underscores rising tensions in the city over unresolved civic issues. The police have urged citizens to remain calm and avoid further confrontations while investigations continue.
