Initial police probes in Madhya Pradesh have uncovered a connection between recent deaths from alleged poisonous liquor in Sagar's Bundi region and a supply network operating out of Lalitpur, Uttar Pradesh.

Police in Madhya Pradesh have begun investigating a series of deaths attributed to allegedly toxic liquor in the Bundi area of Sagar district. Preliminary findings point to a supply chain that originates from Lalitpur in Uttar Pradesh, where counterfeit QR codes were allegedly affixed to the bottles to mislead consumers.

According to the initial report, the illicit liquor was manufactured in Uttar Pradesh and transported across state borders, where it was marketed as legitimate alcohol using forged QR‑code labels. The counterfeit labels were intended to bypass regulatory checks and give the product a false appearance of safety.

Authorities have seized several bottles and are tracing the distribution network to identify the individuals responsible for the adulteration. Families of the victims have been informed, and a medical team is providing assistance to those affected.

The investigation remains ongoing, and police have urged the public to refrain from consuming unverified alcoholic products, especially those lacking authentic QR‑code verification.
