The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board has approved the construction of 1,800 kilometres of new LPG pipelines, aiming to expand the country’s gas distribution network.

The Petroleum and Natural Gas Regulatory Board (PNGRB) has given formal approval for the laying of 1,800 kilometres of LPG pipelines across the country. The decision was announced in a recent regulatory meeting and is expected to strengthen the LPG supply chain.

The new pipelines are intended to improve the reach of liquefied petroleum gas to remote and underserved regions, reducing reliance on road transport and enhancing safety. Industry analysts say the expanded network could lower distribution costs and support the government's goal of wider LPG adoption.

Implementation will be overseen by approved pipeline developers, with construction slated to begin later this year. The rollout aligns with broader energy infrastructure plans aimed at boosting clean fuel accessibility nationwide.
