Punjab National Bank officials said that surveillance cameras at its Greater Noida Sector Pi branch recorded an employee accessing the bank’s internal system six times in a short span and transferring funds from multiple customer accounts. The footage, obtained by the bank’s security team, shows the staff member logging in with different credentials before initiating the transfers.
Bank investigators have launched an internal probe to determine the total amount siphoned and to identify the victims. The employee has been placed on suspension pending a detailed forensic audit of the transaction logs.
Local police have been notified, and a formal FIR is expected to be filed. Authorities are reviewing whether the incident involves a larger network of fraudulent activity within the bank’s regional operations.
The bank has assured customers that it is strengthening authentication protocols and reviewing its access controls to prevent similar breaches in the future.
