Prime Minister Narendra Modi touched down in Gangtok today, marking the start of a two‑day official tour of Sikkim. The Prime Minister's arrival was greeted by state officials and local dignitaries at the airport, underscoring the significance of the visit for the northeastern state.
During the two‑day stay, the leader is scheduled to undertake a series of official engagements in the state capital, including meetings with Sikkim's political leadership and visits to key development sites. The itinerary, while not fully disclosed, is expected to focus on infrastructure, tourism and central government schemes aimed at boosting the region's growth.
Sikkim, India's smallest state by area, has been a focal point of several central initiatives in recent years. Modi's visit is seen as an opportunity to review progress on these programmes and to discuss further collaborative measures between the centre and the state government.
