Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially open the Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System and the Meerut Metro today, marking the launch of the country’s first RRTS network.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) alongside the Meerut Metro today. The ceremony will be held in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, and will be attended by senior government officials and local dignitaries.
The Namo Bharat RRTS is the first of its kind in India, designed to provide fast, high‑capacity rail connectivity between Delhi and the rapidly growing city of Meerut. The Meerut Metro, launched concurrently, aims to enhance intra‑city travel and reduce road congestion.
Both projects are part of the central government's push to expand modern public‑transport infrastructure across the country, improving regional connectivity and supporting sustainable urban growth.
