Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially open the Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System and the Meerut Metro in Uttar Pradesh today, marking a milestone in the country's urban transport development.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate two major transit projects in Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, today. The ceremonies will launch the Namo Bharat Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS), the country's first RRTS line, and the newly constructed Meerut Metro, both aimed at easing commuter traffic in the National Capital Region.

The Namo Bharat RRTS, spanning several districts, is designed to provide high‑speed, reliable connectivity between Delhi and surrounding cities, reducing travel time significantly. The Meerut Metro, comprising multiple corridors, will serve as a feeder network, linking residential and commercial zones within the city.

Officials say the projects are part of the government's broader push to modernise urban infrastructure and promote sustainable transport. The inauguration is expected to draw large crowds, with the Prime Minister addressing the importance of integrated mobility solutions for economic growth.

Security arrangements are in place, and the events will be broadcast live on national television, allowing citizens across the country to witness the launch.
