Eight construction workers died and several were injured after an electric shock at a road‑work site in Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed sorrow and pledged ₹2 lakh for each bereaved family and ₹50,000 for the injured.

A tragic incident unfolded at a road‑construction site in Jhunjhunu, Rajasthan, where an accidental live‑wire contact caused an electric shock. The blast resulted in the death of eight labourers, while several others suffered severe burns and injuries.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, addressing the nation, expressed deep condolences to the families of the deceased. He announced an immediate financial assistance of ₹2 lakh for each family of the eight workers who lost their lives.

In addition, the government will provide ₹50,000 to every worker who was injured in the accident. The compensation is intended to help cover medical expenses and support the affected families during this difficult period.

Local authorities have launched an inquiry to determine the cause of the electrical fault and to ensure stricter safety measures at ongoing construction projects across the state.

The incident has sparked calls from labour unions for enhanced safety protocols and regular inspections at public works sites to prevent similar tragedies.
