The central government's PM Janman Yojana has been launched in Balrampur, Chhattisgarh, aiming to spur infrastructure and livelihood projects in the district.
The Prime Minister's Janman Yojana, a flagship central scheme for accelerating development in lagging regions, was officially introduced in Balrampur district of Chhattisgarh. The launch marks the first phase of the programme in the state, targeting villages that have been left behind in earlier growth drives.
Under the scheme, the district will receive dedicated funding for basic infrastructure such as roads, drinking water facilities, and rural electrification, as well as for housing and skill‑training centres. The government has also earmarked resources for agricultural support and small‑scale enterprises to generate sustainable livelihoods.
District officials said the intervention is expected to raise living standards, create employment opportunities and reduce migration to urban centres. They added that regular monitoring will ensure that the allocated funds reach the intended beneficiaries.
