India’s Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal concluded a multi‑city visit to Europe, engaging with business leaders and signing agreements that are expected to deepen trade ties between India and key European markets.
India’s Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal completed a three‑city tour of Europe in early July, visiting Brussels, Paris and London. During the trip he met with European Union officials and senior business leaders to discuss ways to increase bilateral trade and investment. The minister signed several memoranda of understanding on trade facilitation, digital commerce and agricultural exports, which are expected to boost India’s exports to the EU and the UK.
Goyal highlighted the growing demand for Indian goods in Europe and reiterated India’s commitment to open markets and fair trade practices. He also announced a new initiative to support Indian SMEs in accessing European markets through joint ventures and technology partnerships.
European counterparts welcomed the visit, noting that the agreements could lead to higher trade volumes and greater cooperation in areas such as renewable energy and pharmaceuticals. The visit is seen as a key step in strengthening India’s economic ties with the continent amid rising global trade competition.
