A PhD candidate at Central University of South Bihar, accompanied by two peers, began a sit‑in protest in Gaya, pressing university authorities to grant her degree and release the 2023 sexual‑harassment investigation findings.

Central University of South Bihar (CUSB) in Gaya has become the site of a student-led sit‑in after a PhD scholar, joined by two fellow students, took to the campus grounds to highlight unresolved academic and safety concerns. The protest began after the scholar’s request for the formal clearance of her doctoral thesis was repeatedly delayed by university officials.

The protesters are demanding two specific actions: first, the immediate processing and award of the PhD degree that the scholar has completed, and second, the public release of the investigation report concerning a sexual‑harassment complaint filed in 2023. The complainant alleges that the university has not provided the findings, prompting the current demonstration.

University representatives have so far declined to comment publicly on the matter, citing internal procedures. However, campus staff noted that the administration has been approached multiple times regarding both the thesis clearance and the pending investigation report.

Student activists warn that prolonged inaction could erode confidence in the institution’s handling of academic grievances and safety issues, urging the university to address the demands without further delay.
