Patiala’s food safety officials have suspended the licences of two local food business operators after finding adulterated products ahead of the upcoming festive season.
Patiala’s food safety department launched a surprise inspection drive in the days leading up to the major festivals. The checks focused on shops and small-scale manufacturers that supply staple items to consumers.
During the sweep, officials discovered that two registered food business operators were selling products that did not meet prescribed quality standards. Laboratory analysis confirmed the presence of unauthorized additives, prompting immediate action.
As a result, the department suspended the licences of both operators, barring them from further commercial activity until they rectify the violations. The authorities warned that any repeat offence will attract harsher penalties, including permanent closure.
The crackdown is part of a broader effort to protect consumers from health hazards associated with adulterated food, especially during the festive period when demand spikes.
