Western Railway’s DRM Ashwin Kumar inspected Oankarshwar Road station and confirmed plans to launch passenger services from Khandwa to Oankarshwar Road by November 2026.

Western Railway officials have accelerated work to improve rail connectivity at Oankarshwar Road station in Madhya Pradesh. During a site visit, DRM Ashwin Kumar examined the ongoing infrastructure upgrades and said the railway zone is on track to introduce passenger trains linking Khandwa with Oankarshwar Road.

The proposed service aims to commence by November 2026, providing residents of Oankarshwar and surrounding districts with direct access to the broader Indian rail network. The schedule will complement existing routes and is expected to boost local commerce and travel convenience.

Railway authorities have not disclosed the exact number of daily trains yet, but they indicated that the new timetable will be aligned with demand forecasts and regional development plans. The initiative reflects the government's broader push to enhance connectivity in central India.

Stakeholders, including local officials and commuters, welcomed the announcement, noting that improved rail links could spur economic activity and reduce reliance on road transport.

Further details on ticketing, fares and exact train timings will be released closer to the launch date, once operational trials are completed.
