The government has decided to scrap the Parandur airport, a move that fulfills Vijay's promise made during his first political protest.
The Parandur airport, located in the outskirts of the city, will be officially decommissioned following a decision announced by the state government.
The move comes after Vijay, a prominent political figure, pledged to eliminate the airport during his inaugural protest against unnecessary infrastructure projects.
The scrapping is expected to redirect resources towards local development initiatives.
Officials said the airport will be dismantled over the next six months, with the site earmarked for community use.
The decision has been welcomed by residents who have long opposed the airport's operation.
