Panna Police Nab Wanted Robber Ramabhori After 17 Years on the Run

After evading capture for 17 years, the Panna police arrested Ramabhori, a wanted thief with a Rs 5,000 bounty, in connection with a 2009 robbery of forest workers and a committee manager.
Panna district police announced the arrest of Ramabhori, a criminal who had been on the run for 17 years, after a Rs 5,000 reward was issued for his capture. The operation, carried out earlier this week, brings the long‑standing manhunt to an end.
Ramabhori was originally implicated in a 2009 case in which he allegedly robbed forest department personnel of a firearm, ammunition and cash, and also looted Rs 7,500 and a mobile phone from a committee manager. The charges were registered under sections relating to robbery and possession of illegal weapons.
Following the arrest, police said the suspect will be presented before the local magistrate within the next 24 hours. Investigators are preparing a detailed charge sheet based on the evidence collected during the 2009 incident and the recent apprehension.
Senior police officials highlighted the successful coordination among field units and the role of community tips in locating the fugitive after nearly two decades.
