The lottery to allocate reservation categories for the upcoming Panchayati Raj elections, covering positions such as pradhan, panchayat samiti members and Zila Parishad seats, will be conducted tomorrow.
The State Election Commission has announced that the lottery to decide reservation quotas for the forthcoming Panchayati Raj elections will be held tomorrow. The exercise will determine the share of seats reserved for women, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes across all three tiers of local governance.
The reservation will apply to the posts of pradhan (village head), members of the panchayat samiti and seats in the Zila Parishad. These allocations are mandated by the 73rd and 74th Constitutional Amendments and are intended to ensure inclusive representation at the grassroots level.
Election officials said the lottery results will be published shortly after the draw, guiding political parties and independent candidates in filing their nominations. The commission has urged all stakeholders to respect the outcome and maintain transparency throughout the electoral process.
