The Inter‑Services Intelligence has stepped up protective measures for Hafiz Saeed, the head of Lashkar‑e‑Taiba, after receiving intelligence about fresh threats against him.
Pakistan’s premier intelligence agency, the ISI, announced that it has reinforced security arrangements for Hafiz Saeed, the founder and chief of the militant group Lashkar‑e‑Taiba, following credible reports of new threats targeting him.
The agency said additional personnel, heightened surveillance and contingency plans have been put in place, though it did not disclose specific numbers or locations.
Security officials indicated that the measures are a response to recent intelligence inputs suggesting that rival factions or external actors may be planning attacks against Saeed.
The move arrives as Pakistan faces growing international pressure to curb the activities of designated terrorist organisations and to demonstrate a tougher stance on internal security threats.
No official comment was obtained from Lashkar‑e‑Taiba or from Hafiz Saeed’s representatives regarding the heightened security posture.
