Pakistan withdraws from World Championship of Legends after PCB demands written apology from Indian players
The Pakistan Cricket Board's demand that Indian cricketers issue a written apology led to Pakistan's official pull‑out from the World Championship of Legends, a condition rejected by the tournament organisers and Indian legends.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced that its team has officially withdrawn from the World Championship of Legends (WCL) tournament. The withdrawal follows the PCB's unusual condition that Indian players submit a written apology for past on‑field incidents.
Tournament organisers and the Indian legends participating in the event have categorically rejected the PCB's demand, stating that it is not a prerequisite for the competition and that sporting matters should be settled on the field, not through written statements.
The decision to pull out comes as the WCL, a high‑profile cricket showcase featuring retired stars, prepares to commence its schedule. Both sides have expressed disappointment, but the organisers affirmed that the tournament will proceed as planned with the remaining teams.
No further details on the impact of Pakistan's exit on the tournament format have been released, and the PCB has not indicated any intention to re‑enter the competition under the current conditions.
