A 40-year-old lift at Sneh Nagar Complex in Indore fell from the second floor after being overloaded, injuring seven people including six guests from Punjab.
A lift that was more than four decades old gave way at the Sneh Nagar Complex in Indore on Tuesday, collapsing from the second floor after being overloaded. The malfunction caused the cabin to plunge, trapping occupants inside.
Seven persons, among them six visitors from Punjab, sustained injuries ranging from minor cuts to fractures. All the injured were promptly shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment.
Local police have launched an investigation, focusing on the lift's age and the reported overload as primary factors. Authorities have also ordered a safety audit of similar elevators in the area to prevent future incidents.
The incident has raised concerns about the maintenance of aging infrastructure in residential complexes across the city.
