More than 7.5 lakh pilgrims gathered in Ujjain as the Mahakal procession displayed the deity in four distinct forms on different vehicles.
Over 7.5 lakh devotees assembled at the Mahakaleshwar temple in Ujjain to witness a grand procession that showcased Lord Mahakal in four distinct manifestations. The event, organised by the temple trustees, drew crowds from across Madhya Pradesh and neighboring states, all eager to receive darshan of the revered deity.
The procession featured four specially decorated vehicles: a palanquin bearing the form of Shri Chandramauleshwar on a Gajaraj, a chariot with Shri Manmahes on a Garuda, a bullock‑drawn carriage carrying Shri Shivtandav on a Nandi, and another bullock carriage with the combined form of Shri Uma‑Mahesh. Each vehicle moved through the city streets, allowing devotees to glimpse the different aspects of Mahakal.
Spectators described the atmosphere as charged with devotion, chanting hymns and offering prayers at every stop. The event is seen as a rare opportunity for worshippers to experience the deity’s multiple avatars in a single procession, reinforcing Ujjain’s status as a major pilgrimage centre.
