Food Safety officials in Satna confiscated more than 3.5 quintals of milk cake that contained palm oil instead of milk fat, after it arrived from Kanpur.

On Sunday evening, the Food Safety Department in Satna intercepted a bus carrying over 3.5 quintals of sweets that had come from Kanpur. Laboratory analysis revealed that the product, marketed as milk cake, was prepared using palm oil rather than the required milk fat, breaching the Food Safety and Standards Act.

The department has launched strict action against the alleged adulterators, filing a case under the relevant food‑safety legislation. Officials emphasized that such substitution not only violates labeling norms but also poses health risks to consumers.

All seized sweets are being held for further testing and will be destroyed under official supervision. The authorities have urged the public to remain cautious and report any suspicious food items.

The incident underscores the ongoing challenge of food adulteration in the region and the vigilance of state food‑regulatory bodies.
