The plan envisions the establishment of over 300 ‘She‑Marts’ across the southern states of Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka. Each outlet will be designed to cater specifically to female consumers and entrepreneurs, offering a safe shopping environment and opportunities for women‑run businesses.
The scheme is part of a broader effort to promote gender‑inclusive economic growth and empower women at the grassroots level. State authorities in the three regions have been instructed to identify suitable locations and facilitate the necessary clearances within the next few months.
Officials expect the She‑Marts to generate employment for women, encourage local sourcing of products, and serve as a model for similar initiatives in other parts of the country. The rollout will be monitored by the Ministry of Women and Child Development in coordination with state governments.
