More than 2.65 lakh aspirants sat for the NEET‑PG 2026 exam, and the authorities have announced a supplementary test on September 5 for eligible candidates.
The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Post‑Graduation (NEET‑PG) 2026 was conducted as scheduled, drawing participation from over 2.65 lakh candidates nationwide. The examination, which serves as the primary gateway to MD and MS programmes, saw a record‑high turnout reflecting the intense competition for postgraduate medical seats.
In response to logistical challenges and to accommodate candidates who were unable to appear or wish to improve their scores, the National Board of Examinations has announced a supplementary examination on September 5. The re‑exam will follow the same format and will be open to all eligible aspirants who meet the stipulated criteria.
Officials emphasized that the additional session aims to ensure fairness and provide a second opportunity without compromising the integrity of the selection process. Results of the main exam will be released as per the usual timeline, after which candidates can decide whether to await the outcome or opt for the September re‑test.
