More than a hundred police personnel have been stationed in the Guru Ki Wadali area of Amritsar as part of a crackdown against drug abuse.
Amritsar police have positioned over one hundred officers in the Guru Ki Wadali neighbourhood to intensify an anti‑drug drive. The deployment is aimed at curbing the sale and consumption of illicit substances that have been reported in the locality.
The operation forms part of a broader state‑wide effort to dismantle drug networks and deter youth from substance abuse. Officers are conducting patrols, checking suspicious premises and cooperating with local authorities to gather intelligence.
Police officials said the presence of a large contingent will act as a deterrent and enable quicker response to any drug‑related incidents. The campaign will continue until a noticeable decline in drug activity is observed in the area.
