The state meteorological department has raised orange alerts for multiple districts in Madhya Pradesh as intense monsoon rains cause flooding and landslides.
The Madhya Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority, in coordination with the regional weather office, has upgraded the weather warning to orange level for a number of districts after a spell of heavy monsoon showers. An orange alert signals a high likelihood of severe flooding, waterlogging and landslides that could disrupt daily life and damage property.
Local administration teams have been mobilised to monitor river levels, clear drainage channels and pre‑position relief supplies in the affected areas. Police and health officials are on standby to assist with evacuations and to provide medical aid if needed.
Residents in the warned districts have been urged to avoid non‑essential travel, keep emergency kits ready, and follow instructions from local authorities. Continuous updates will be issued through radio, television and official social‑media channels as the monsoon system progresses.
The department warned that the situation could deteriorate further if the rainfall persists, and it advised farmers to protect standing crops and livestock from waterlogging.
Authorities reiterated that cooperation from the public is essential to minimise loss of life and property during this critical phase of the monsoon season.
