On Tuesday, over 140 opposition MPs from the India Block marched from Parliament in New Delhi, blocking the route and demanding investigations into alleged vote‑rigging and new information about the chief electoral officer.
The protest began in the early hours of Tuesday as a coalition of opposition MPs, numbering more than 140, gathered outside the Parliament House in New Delhi. They carried placards accusing the Election Commission of "vote theft" and demanding a probe into recent revelations concerning the chief electoral officer.
The march extended along the main thoroughfare leading to the Parliament, with several MPs setting up barricades. SP leader Rahul Priyanka and Akhilesh Sharma joined the protest, raising their voices in a joint sit‑in that drew attention from local media.
Security forces were deployed to manage the crowd, and traffic along the route was severely disrupted. The opposition demanded that the Election Commission address the allegations and provide transparent information before the next general election.
