OpenAI chief Sam Altman said the company aims to launch AI assistants that can view users' screens, attend meetings and read emails within the next half‑year, offering contextual help at work.

Sam Altman, chief executive of OpenAI, told reporters that the firm is working on a new generation of AI assistants capable of observing a user’s on‑screen activity, listening in on meetings and accessing email, document and Slack content. The goal is to provide real‑time contextual assistance that can streamline tasks and improve productivity.

Altman emphasized that users will retain control over what information the AI can access, with settings to limit or grant permissions for specific data sources. He said the technology is being built to respect privacy while delivering more intuitive support.

If the timeline holds, the feature could be rolled out within six months, marking a significant shift in how AI tools are integrated into everyday workplace workflows, according to the Times of India report.
